Rihanna had some very special company as she arrived in Milan on Thursday, a little more than a week after confirming her second pregnancy.
The singer and actress were joined by her baby son, who at nine months of age was traveling to Italy for his first-ever fashion week – a run of ready-to-wear womenswear shows that began on Wednesday.
Making her way across the city’s Malpensa Airport, Rihanna, 35, cradled her young son as she searched for her car.
The singer, who is expected to release new music this year, was also accompanied by boyfriend ASAP Rocky, with the couple expected to attend a string of shows over the coming days.
Dressed in an ankle-length coat and black hooded top, Rihanna appeared to be braced for chilly fourteen-degree temperatures in the Italian fashion capital. Meanwhile, her son, who looked somewhat bemused by the attention their arrival inevitably generated, was equally prepared in a brown woolen romper suit.
Rihanna’s rapper boyfriend A$AP Rocky appeared to be in a cheerful mood as he greeted onlookers with a smile before climbing into their waiting for a people carrier.
This will be the second child for the mogul and her boyfriend. The couple has been in a relationship since 2020. Speaking to the magazine, Rihanna said Rocky is her ‘best friend’ and admitted she can’t remember what her life was like before having her son in May 2022.
She said of becoming a mother: ‘It’s everything, you really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever.’ Rihanna said her first few months as a mother were a rollercoaster and described giving birth as a ‘head-f**k’, saying she couldn’t believe she entered the hospital pregnant and left with a baby.
Rihanna admitted that having a child has also made her reevaluate, as she described raising her son as one of the “scariest” responsibilities ever in her life. She said: “Raising a young black man is one of the scariest responsibilities in life. You’re like, “What am I leaving my kids to do?” “This is the planet they’re gonna be living on?’
“Everything changes when you have a, but I wouldn’t say it’s done anything but bring us closer together,” she added. She also gushed over Rocky’s relationship with their son, saying their baby boy needs validation from his father as she described their close bond.
The couple shot their recent cover for British Vogue on a beach in mid-December. At the time, she had no idea she was pregnant again. “How crazy both of my babies were in these photos and mommy had no idea,” the star proudly shared images from the shoot on Instagram on Wednesday.
Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, said that he found out about her pregnancy while watching the Super Bowl halftime show, where she announced it. On Sunday, Fenty told TMZ that he is “over his daughter,” and A$AP Rock’s “kiddo” is hoping for a girl.
Ronald commented that he already has four grandsons and is ‘hoping RiRi can shake things up with a girl.’ He added that ‘he’s excited about the prospect of having a granddaughter.’ Ronald told the outlet that Rihanna got him tickets to the big game without mentioning that she was pregnant.
