When it comes to food with heart, look no further than one catering company lighting up Los Angeles with flavor-packed dishes and an even more flavorful love story.

Meet Delicia and Lance Watterson, the culinary couple who turned a simple idea—selling a single plate of food on Facebook — into a full-blown catering sensation.

“I just wanted to create a way to give back to our community,” Delicia told Black Vine News. “We weren’t even trying to start a catering company.”

But the people spoke—loudly.

“We sold one dish and by the end of the day, it had exploded,” she said.

What began as a once-a-month soul food sale to fund meals for the less fortunate turned into a local staple. And two years later, Tasty W’s is still going strong.

Their love language? Gumbo, green beans, and giving back.

Whether it’s their famous parking lot gumbo or their creamy mac and cheese that fans call “the best ever,” Tasty W’s keeps the orders—and compliments—rolling in.

One fan even texted Delicia mid-vacation just to rave: “Girl, them green beans!”

And while they’re known for their rich flavors (hello, Korean short ribs and brisket!), the couple keeps health-conscious clients in mind, too—offering vegan meatloaf, pasta salads, and rice pilaf for those skipping Ozempic but still watching their waistline.

But Tasty W’s isn’t just about feeding mouths — it’s about feeding souls.

Delicia and Lance, both rooted in Christian faith, have made community outreach a cornerstone of their business.

Twice a month, they prepare and distribute hot meals to those experiencing homelessness—not just sandwiches, but full meals with the same love and care they give paying clients.

“There was a moment on Father’s Day that I’ll never forget,” Delicia recalled. “A woman started crying and said she had just finished praying for food when we arrived. That’s why we do this.”

While many small businesses dream of a storefront or food truck, Delicia said they’re happy keeping it personal.

“We never set out to open a restaurant. We love pop-ups, private events, and giving back. That’s our joy.”

So what’s the dream order? According to Delicia, it’s “barbecue pork ribs and Korean short ribs, mac and cheese, collard greens, and our barbecue bacon.”

And if you’re going vegan? Don’t worry—there’s something for everyone.

From Compton kitchens to Los Angeles events, the Wattersons are proving that success isn’t just measured in dollars—it’s in the lives touched, the prayers answered, and the green beans people can’t stop texting about.
