TMZ Sports has sadly confirmed the death of Ray Lewis III, the son of NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis, at the age of 28. Details concerning his death are not known yet.
During his senior year of high school at Lake Mary Prep, Lewis III excelled as a running back with 1,898 yards and 20 touchdowns, as well as 676 yards and four touchdowns through receiving. He then continued to demonstrate his talent at the college level while playing for the Miami Hurricanes, Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, and Virginia Union Panthers.
The Panthers’ Associate Head Coach Diego Ryland commented on Lewis III’s death, expressing it is a “very unfortunate” situation. He stated, “He was a great young man and an even better teammate. Our entire Virginia Union University community sends their prayers to the Lewis family during this difficult time.”
On Thursday afternoon, Lewis’ younger brother Rahsaan delivered a sorrowful farewell, saying, “It’s hard to believe I’m writing this, but rest in peace big brother.” He went on to say, “You were a true angel, and I know you were in so much pain. There aren’t words to express how I feel, but I love you so much. Your niece is going to miss you, but she’ll know all about you. Please be our guardian from above and make sure you’re proud of us all.”
Most recently, Lewis III played for the Wyoming Mustangs in the Champions Indoor Football League. In addition to that, he was on the way to a successful music career.
