After reshaping television with Quantum Leap, trailblazing writer-producer Deborah M. Pratt is back with her most ambitious project yet—Warrior One. Part graphic novel, part video game, and part feature-ready cinematic universe, Warrior One is more than a story. It’s a blueprint for what sci-fi could look like when women lead, innovation drives the process, and the story lives across multiple platforms.
Set in the year 2147—what survivors call Year 118 AQ (After the Quakes)—the world of Warrior One is a haunting reimagining of Earth. Massive quakes have redrawn the planet’s geography, giving rise to new continents like Atlantia. What remains of civilization is a fusion of biotech, mysticism, and rebellion.

In this fractured future, the human race is experimenting with hybrid evolution—creating “Splicers,” human-animal hybrids gifted with metaphysical powers known as the Visionistic Arts. But peace doesn’t last. A sentient, bio-engineered army called the Black Guard awakens, deems humanity unfit to rule, and begins its campaign of extermination.
Enter Jetta A, an 18-year-old survivor whose family is killed in a Black Guard attack. With only a droid named Bot at her side, she embarks on a journey from devastated orphan to defiant warrior. Her transformation into “Warrior One” sparks a revolution that challenges not only the Black Guard—but the very way the world survives.
From Story to System: A Franchise in Motion
The Warrior One universe is already evolving beyond the page. Deborah Pratt has assembled an elite creative team for the graphic novel adaptation: writer David Campiti, artist Will Conrad, colorist Candice Han, and designer Kathryn S. Renta. Together, they’re bringing this richly layered sci-fi world to life with cinematic detail and emotional weight.
But the graphic novel is just phase one.
Plans are already in motion for a full-scale video game that drops players into Atlantia’s outlands. With character customization, strategic rebellion-building, and mastery of Visionistic Arts, the game will give fans a chance to live the fight firsthand. A TV series and feature film are also on the horizon—each one deepening the lore and broadening the reach.
The Woman Behind the Movement
Deborah M. Pratt has never played it safe. Starting her career in her early 20s, she’s been disrupting Hollywood ever since. Best known as co-creator and showrunner of the original Quantum Leap, she was not only behind the scripts but voiced the fan-favorite A.I., Ziggy. She went on to co-create The Net, direct Cora Unashamed for the BBC, and direct the finale of Grey’s Anatomy Season 19. She was also executive producer on NBC’s 2022 Quantum Leap reboot, cementing her legacy across generations of sci-fi television.
Her work has earned her five Emmy nominations, a Golden Globe nomination, and awards from Showtime, Women in Film, and international festivals. Behind the scenes, she’s been equally influential—mentoring young creators, serving on boards for the Writers Guild of America and El Nido Family Centers, and championing creator ownership in entertainment.
Now, with Warrior One, she’s pushing even further.
“I’ve always believed in the power of stories to shape who we are and what we can become,” Pratt has said. “But we can’t keep telling the same stories the same way. We need to evolve—creatively, structurally, and socially.”
A Universe That Mirrors Our Own
Beyond the tech and the battles, Warrior One is about survival, power, and the rebirth of identity. It’s a coming-of-age rebellion set against a post-human future—rooted in the emotional weight of loss, growth, and leadership.
It also asks bold questions: What happens when evolution is forced? What is the price of unity? Who decides the future?
Pratt isn’t offering easy answers. She’s inviting us to explore them across media, one story at a time.
What’s Next?
The Warrior One graphic novel is in pre-release, and the companion game is in early funding stages. Fans can already purchase the Vision Quest novels that inspired the series, sign up for campaign alerts, and be part of the growing community shaping this world from the ground up.
In a media landscape dominated by reboots and IP recycling, Warrior One stands out as original, inclusive, and future-focused—just like its creator.
