Actress Tia Mowry is navigating the holiday season with “mixed emotions” as a single mom of two. Reflecting on co-parenting after her divorce from actor Cory Hardrict, Mowry described it as a “challenging and lonely journey.” The former couple, who share son Cree, 13, and daughter Cairo, 6, met in 2000, a year after Mowry’s hit show Sister, Sister wrapped filming. They married in 2008, celebrated milestones like renewing their vows in 2013, and marked their 14th wedding anniversary in April 2022.
However, just six months later, in October 2022, Mowry announced their separation, explaining they had “decided to go their separate ways” but would “maintain a friendship as they co-parent their beautiful children.” She filed for divorce on October 4, 2022, citing “irreconcilable differences” and requesting joint custody. The split was amicable, with neither party seeking spousal support due to a prenuptial agreement. By April 2023, their divorce was finalized, ending their 15-year marriage.
On Monday (December 23), Mowry shared holiday-themed Instagram photos featuring her and her children in matching red plaid pajamas by the Christmas tree, as well as elegant shots of the family dressed in festive red outfits.
In her heartfelt caption, she wrote:
“Happy Holidays from my family to yours! 🎄✨ Co-parenting during the holidays is a journey—one that’s filled with a mix of emotions. It’s different, and yes, it can feel challenging and even lonely at times, especially when you’re adjusting to a new family dynamic. But over time, I’ve found the beauty in it. It’s an opportunity for my kids to build meaningful relationships with both parents, and for me, it creates space for self-discovery, healing, and rejuvenation.”
Mowry also acknowledged the unique challenges of single motherhood, adding:
“I’ll admit, as a single mom, I sometimes feel the weight because our family doesn’t look like others. But you know what? That’s okay. Different doesn’t mean less than. The most important thing is keeping the traditions alive for my children—because no matter how it looks, we are still family. 💛”
